Gold Coast: Sea World (GC14 Part 3)

Gold Coast, 2014

It's the day to get up close with the sea life, in one of the popular spot in Gold Coast, that's Sea World! Well, I just wanted to see dolphins and ride on roller coasters. :)

Affinity - Dolphin Show

This is definitely a show not to be missed when in Sea World. You'll sure be impressed by how clever these sea mammals are. The length of the show was just nice and overall very entertaining. Arrive early to the show arena to secure a good spot. If you're lucky, you might get to become a volunteer to get up close and personal with the dolphins.

Jet Stunt Extreme

We heard that this show was great too. We got our chance to watch this show, but from far far away.. We was on the way to the lake where the show took place but half way through, we could see the show already started. So we decided to just stop by where we were at that time and watched (the location is a bit high so we got to see). Mainly, it's an action packed show with jetski flying and flipping away. Must be much more amazing if we could just be a little nearer to the stage. Apparently, we underestimate the time. So many pit-stops because we were easily distracted by many attractive things (souvenir shops, candy shops, toilet breaks and baby milk time), and not to mention we were also been drawn away by those friendly sting rays at the Ray Reef. We just got so tempted to touch them! And actually, we can! So imagine jakun-moment of us petting sting rays and nobody seemed want to let go. My perception towards sting ray is forever changed now. They are not only tasty when grilled, they are cute creature too.

Dora's Best Friends Adventure

Again, underestimated the time we had. We had our lunch at Lakeside Terrace (food court concept). I didn't want Hana to miss the Dora show. I knew this would mean big to her. Looking at the watch with so little time left, we quickly tried to finish our seafood platter and rushed to watch Dora's Best Friends Adventure. It's just like the tv show, but we got to actually see Dora and her friends in real life. It is definitely a jakun-moment inducing for the kids. Probably for parents too.

Sponge Bob 3D

Who doesn't love Sponge Bob? What's not to love when we got to see Sponge Bob animation in 3D? The animation show is indoor, that's a plus point especially when we were in scorching hot summer. As usual, Sponge Bob is funny as ever. I totally enjoy the show in a fully air-conditioned hall.

Other than variety of shows, we can also maneuver around the park (by walking or by the monorail), to see many other kinds of animals at many different locations, like polar bear, sharks, sea lions, sea stars, sea cucumbers (or are they vegetables?) and penguins! I love penguins! The are the cutest! The largest penguin that they have is the King penguin (it is the second largest penguin, a bit smaller than the Emperor). But they are already the size of my 5 years old daughter (maybe bigger). And did I mentioned that they are cute?

The King.

Gentoo.

More King.

Penguin feeding show.

So, do they have roller coasters here in Sea World? Yes they have! And they are good ones too.

Storm Coaster

The queue was quite long for this one (remember schoolies?). We were warned that this ride may get you wet (or soaked). I just love rides that could get us soaked. Or at least, it is fun to watch people get drenched in water. The start of the ride is like the name suggest, where we will go through a storm-like condition. Then we will be brought to the outside, rolling around, before we're dived back into the water, and splash! Big one! Those who are lucky will totally get soaked! And everyone happy!

Jet Rescue

This roller coaster makes you sit like you're on a jet ski! This is a speedy coaster where it's speeding the whole time and not a moment of slowing down at all (except when it ends). It involves very sharp twists and turns that sometimes I felt like my head was so close to hit the rock. It's exhilarating! We went on this twice! There was another roller coaster at Sea World (Sea Viper), but I think it is permanently closed, but the track can still be seen back then.

Twisty! See the rock?

Another fun ride for everyone!

I don't have many pictures taken at Sea World though (just realized this after browsing through the album). So these are basically what we have. But you got to watch our YouTube videos on Gold Coast trip for a better overview of our experience. More links at the top right of this blog. Check it out! :)
