Hong Kong: The Peak (HK15 Part 1)

Hong Kong 2015

Our flight to Hong Kong from KLIA2 was early in the morning. It took roughly 4 hours to reach Hong Kong international airport. We then took the red taxi from the airport to our Airbnb stay at Hong Kong island. HK taxi is efficient, very easy to get and convenient too. And the car is spacious!

Our 3-bedroom apartment was booked via Airbnb a couple of months prior the arrival date. It was stated in the website that the apartment can accommodate up to 10 people. One thing I learned about Hong Kong is that, the people can live in a small and compact living space (especially in the middle of the city center mainly because of the high cost of living) and I guess that they are already used to it. So when it says apartment for 10 people, try not to really believe in that. Our pax were 6 adults + 2 kids, and we already cramped up the whole apartment. The place is modern and cozy nonetheless (complete with basic amennities, kitchen, bathroom and most importantly wifi!), but honestly for me it's more like 5-6 persons apartment. I'm not complaining though, because we really paid for what we got. :)

This view, we knew we're in Hong Kong.
Our stay. The name is kinda misleading.
After checking in (it's a self check-in by the way, how cool is that?), we got ourselves ready to see Hong Kong. The perfect place to do this is by seeing it from The Peak. It was end of spring season, and the weather was just like what we have in Malaysia (hot and humid). But to be somewhere high like The Peak was a wise decision. It's breezily cool, foggy and windy and very oversea-like. But the downside of the excessive fogs, they're blurring our view to see Hong Kong city skyline from the top. There's one place called Sky Terrace 428, which I guess is the perfect spot to see Hong Kong from The Peak, but you have to pay some fee for the entrance. So I made some research and found an alternative for that and most importantly, it's free! Just opposite of the Sky Terrace 428 building, there's a shopping mall, The Peak Galleria. Just go inside and climb up to roof top, and tadaa..free view of Hong Kong skyline. Thank you TripAdvisor.

The Peak has very much to offer other than just a view. Shopping malls, restaurants, Madame Tussauds, Trick Eye Museum and many more. So you won't be bored. It's a perfect place to hang out.

At The Peak tram station.
In a moving tram (hence the blurry photo?).
Sebaik sahaja sampai...
With master Bruce Lee.
Old tram on display.
Misty.
Thank God we didn't have to pay for this almost non-existent view.
Playing silly when we couldn't see a thing.
The best that we got.
The Peak Galleria roof top.

I wish we have these in KL.

Yums!
