Sydney-Melbourne Road Trip: Blue Mountains (AU13 Part 2)
Blue Mountains, Australia - 2013.
Before I start, as you can see, this is a way long overdue blog post. So it might lack of details and information. But I'll try my best and see what I can do. We don't have much photos though, but I think we pretty much cover most of the things in our travel videos (YouTube links on top right). Don't miss it.
It was the third day in Sydney. We picked up our 6-berth camper van from Apollo Motorhomes and feeling super excited! Road trip begins today! Owh, have I told you that I love road trip (especially when I'm not driving)?
Our 6-berth camper van. The dining table seen here can be transformed into a double bed at night.
But first thing first, lets stock up some more groceries. To Asian grocers we go. Can't wait to have nasik-sardin-telur-dadar dinner in the camper van tonight! We stumbled upon a halal butchery, and God knows how happy we were. Some sausages and marinated chicken wings into the bag. So glad to have another source of protein other than just egg. Then off we go heading south, ready for our Sydney - Melbourne adventure.
Stuff found at the Asian grocer store. The owner is actually from Indonesia. And it is always nice to meet our Asian neighbour abroad.
The dining table at the far back of the camper van.
Heading to our first caravan park, Katoomba Falls Tourist Park, for overnight. Can you guess where are we going to next?
We checked into the caravan park and got the camper van plugged-in for power and water supply (while on road, the water supply is limited to what's there left in the tank). It was my very first time caravanning. Everyone's busy with getting stuff done; cleaning, preparing dinner, doing laundry and looking after the kids. Imagine everyone (all 8 of us!) in the camper van. Meriah! And it was one hell of experience. Dinner was finally ready. Nasik panas, sardin masak kicap, telur dadar and fried chicken wings! It was the tastiest dinner in Australia. After dinner, we're all full and tired, and ready to hit the sack.
The next morning, it started to rain cats and dogs. The adventurer ones, took shower at the communal bathroom, while the cold-intolerance ones (like me), just took the shower in the camper van. The communal bathroom was most of the time empty during our entire trip. It's winter for God's sake, nobody actually showers two times a day. Orang Melayu je yang gigih mandi sampai terkokol.
Skyway, a cable car ride for the best view of the iconic Three Sisters mountain. But due to the weather, the Three Sisters were not visible from the cable car ride. It's too foggy.
Scenic Railway. With 52 degree incline riding, it's the steepest railway in the world!
We can control the steepness of our seats. Cliffhanger is my favs!
Just press the button up/down for more or less steep.
It's drizzling. I can't feel my nose.
Souvenir shopping!
Did some souvenir shopping here, and it's time to move to the next location. We're going to stay overnight in BIG4 Batemans Bay Resort, and to continue our journey tomorrow.
Hot chocolate from 7-Eleven, to keep the co-pilot awakes.
